Yard ladders

I am trying to follow this tutorial but it doesn't work:

Is there any setting that you need to have that isn't apparent in the video?

Works for me, just click on 1 of the boxes and the video starts.

It isn't the video that doesn't work for me - it's the technique described in the video.....

The Trainz Ruler will help you lay yard ladders perfectly straight.

A switch must have a straightened lead in.

To insert an additional spline point, look straight down, and zoom in a bit ... when zoomed out a spline point may not take hold.

Using and alternating the: Hold Shift Key/Don't Hold Shift Key makes splines not join like magnets, when draging tracks out.

The trick is to use the Track Straighten Tool. If you don't, you're ladders will look bent and warped.
