Hi

Would it be possible for me to add recorded station announcements to my stations?

And I mean, recording that I have recorded!!:)

If so, how would I go about this?

Thank you in advance for any information and help given.

Kind Regards

Michael:)

Are building the stations or adding the sound to ones you will be placing on the route? You can add triggers before the station making the arrival announcement then another trigger near the end of the platform to make the departing announcement. Carl

Hi Carl

Thank you for taking the time to reply:)

It was actually more of a station ambience I was thinking about.

There are different sound generators on the DLS that you can plant anywhere to produce a sound that repeats. I'm sure you could figure out the file structure and use your own sounds to make new ones, for your own use, of course.

I have just made loads of these for the ECML, just waiting for the DLS to wake up and a sample will be there to listen to. All PC generated text to voice as well :)

There is a short film on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj9a1nXOs0Q and around the 2.40 mark you can just hear it, I was driving a noisy Deltic at the time, so its a bit muted.

Also think that the station announcement might be copyright. I found that the station announcement done by Phil Sayer was copyright.

That's excellent. Thats exactly what I'm after.

Thank you for the reply and I shall look forward to getting those off the DLS.

As you made them, could I request some announcements, eg Darlington to Saltburn, Darlington to Bishop Auckland??

Thanks

Michael:)

When its only going to be used on my computer, by me and will in no be distributed. What does it matter!!

So are you also saying that my videos on you tube with station announcements in are illegal!!

Have some common sense please!!

It is ok to have video on the tube with station announcements.

But I had some copyright probs with the station announcements by Phil Sayer.

This was he said in a e-mail.

Hi Mark
Many thanks for your e-mail.
Because the copyright of the rail system announcements is held jointly by the train operating company, Network Rail and ourselves, I'm afraid we're unable to release audio files to you, either for your own use or for distribution.
Sorry to have to disappoint you, but copyright licensing is a complex issue, and the legal costs of licensing for an application outside of the original intended use would be prohibitive.
Kindest regards,
Phil Sayer

Mine are fine, as they are all my own work, using text to computer synthesis, so the copyright is mine :)

I am not making them to order, as I have a fair few to do for our route first, sorry.

You want Darlington ones, you will have to wait till we release the North part of the ECML :p

I was thinking using text to voice, But never can find the right voice to use or can not say some types of words.
