Wonderful Trainz

Trainz drove me crazy
If I get banned for this post or its removed what the hell. This is the sort of crap happening that's been going on since TRS2006. This is a shot of an earlier version of my route I imported into TRS2010. There were a few missing deps, but that's no excuse for this a pile of buildings portal and bridge were dumped onto the centre of the route some of these were from 30-40 miles away. TRS2006 spline and track flying everywhere. TS12 "not responding" have to close down through task manager. All these programmes have a lot of crap aspects that have come to be acceptable. Seems the Trainz and N3V apologists want people to ignore the problems Trainz throws up and say nothing and say how great Trainz is. Well enough of the BS.

This happened to me in early versions of TS12 - make sure you have the latest version 61388, never had the problem since.

You should never shake your laptop like a Hasbro Etch-A-Sketch, as all the assets will get jumbled up :hehe:

I thought he put a vacuum on the center of his monitor. :hehe:

This looks like the .gnd file is mixed up possibly due to a newer, 61388 version route being loaded into an earlier version of TS12.

In TS12 I've seen splines do crazy things after placing a turntable. The portion of a roundhouse in the pic looks like the offending asset.

edit to add: I did some searching back in the forum. I was getting problems when using "297 120 ft Turntable <KUID:522774:100056>".

Or a gigantic magnet that cause everything to go to the center. LOL!

Looks like your textures have gone bye byes too.

This has happened to me a few times over the years. Auran/N3V tech support being unable to offer a solution eventually I cobbled together the theory it's caused by a lack of RAM when saving, which scrambles everything up. Also possibly lack of HD space for the game to create temporary files (brought on by forgetting to switch the ridiculous default of 7 x content folder backups in Trainz options down to 1 or 0 which filled up my HD).

I remember this topic as well, though I never experienced it because I always ensure I have plenty of disk space over and above the minimum requirements for a machine to operate, though that is difficult to do on portables I admit so this makes sense if this is the case. :)

The number of backups... I've been lucky and found what I was looking for 3 or 4, even days before in my folders, and sometimes before that because I back those up along with the rest of my Trainz data. I will eventually prune this back to a month to conserve space. If something is over a month old and hasn't been touched or needed, it's time to clean up. With this process, I've been lucky so far.
