Hallo,
I like this new thread!
Just see some snowy screens from me. I posted these screens in another thread before but I like to put it in here as well.
The content at this route can also appear in summer time as it supports season change functionality.

Hallo Dinorius Redundicus :-)

nice to see your snow screen. Therefore I have got a question. Are the nice building and the truck season changeable assets or did you just use “snow-only- assets”?
if its season changeable, I would like to use it at my Milwaukee Road routes which would make the routes much more realistic as I find your content very nice.

Have a good day.

Uwe,

Thanks. It's not really seasonal in the true sense, but does have altitude-sensitive snow/summer normal map textures. It was just an experiment, I am not ready to release it. As I discussed with you a while ago, to make my vehicles 'seasonal' I need to find an efficient and general solution to the complex problems of scenery/traffic versions, mesh orientation, floating height on different roads and how to make those changes without damaging layouts that use previous versions of the same vehicles (I made that mistake once before and do not want to repeat it). There might be a solution but I'd also like to know what will be broken by the next version of Trainz before doing too much. N3V programmers always manage to break something and often don't bother to fix.

In any case, I saw your screenshots above and it seems to me that you have plenty of snow-skinned vehicles, most of them better-looking than mine (I'm not being falsely modest there, they really look good). So please don't wait for me in this matter.

Hallo Dean,

> It's not really seasonal in the true sense, but does have altitude-sensitive snow/summer normal map textures.

Well, that’s the case for the most of my content too. Mostly we need just to divide snow or no snow. And off course winter time does not necessarily mean that there is snow. Most of the buildings and structures looks the same way during spring, summer or autumn – except some houses which got plants growing at its walls. Therefore we can save the effort to create more than a snowy and non snowy version of our assets to be indicated in trainz as required. And if we just need two asset versions, than we should only go for two – otherwise we keep trainz busy to change between seasonal appearances which perhaps does not contain any differences between each other. Therefore please don’t care – in the case – of your buildings. You just did the right thing and don’t hesitate to call it season change :-)
BTW – if you want to create also seasonal updates for any of your spline assets e.g. a road or a fence, I could provide you with some examples how to do so. As you know – I am looking for seasonal assets of such a high quality as yours :-)

Thank you very much for your compliment about my car creations. You are right I created a set of 1965-Dodge-Pickups and 1958-Ford-Pickups and Panels. Still I need some “ordinary” cars like a 2 or 4 door Sedans and so on. I am about to collect some available pictures to work out texture from it.

Just two hours ago, I searched DLS for your creations and found several assets been updated to support season change. I downloaded it and imported it already into TS12 to have a look at it. I am very impressed – really!! It looks very great.
I saw an old picture from Avery, Id indicating an old baggage car just like represented by your asset. Now as you updated this asset in a seasonal way, I can place your baggage car right behind the Avery Depot building as required.

Because of the cars – I see the reasons for your concerns. But just in case there is any scenery car asset which you once have created for the use as scenery asset only – and not to be used as automated traffic – I would be your greatest fan if you would also create seasonal updates from that.
I could imagine your “Truck International semi 0X” and the “Trailer Fruehauf …..” could be such assets – but I am not sure :-) :-)
Please keep in mind - any of your nice assets is worth to get part of the upcoming seasonal world in trainz. Also I am very glad, that I am no longer the only one who creates seasonal assets different from grass, trees and bushes or ground texture :-)
