I asked a friend if he knew if my pc would run trainz 2010 perfectly. He said i would need around 12gig of ram for trainz 2010 to run perfectly to me that seems tottally insane if it were to be true. Any thoughts on this matter? What sort of systems do you guys run trainz 2010 on?

Here are my system specs.

Specs:
Intel i7 930 overclocked to 3.2ghz (Titan fenrir cpu cooler)
6 gig ddr3 ram
9600 gt(getting a upgrade soon)
Antec 1200 case

Cheers

A 1gb ram laptop, with a factory video card will run TRS2006 pretty darn well for a low end PC.

A HP 8100 3gb desktop, with a 500gb hard drive, and a Nividia 8500 video card runs TRS2006 great for me, in a Vista OS, no less !

It all depends on what your definition of "perfectly" is. TS2010 runs very smoothly with all sliders except AA maxed out on my minimum-spec XP machine with 1Gb. A hot machine will definitely produce higher frame rates but 12Gb seems like an awful lot.

My advice is that almost all $600 Windows 7 PC's will run Trainz

My $1300 desktop (8500 video card, 20' Monitor, Printer) bought when Vista first came out...can now be purchased with an even better, off the shelf, 4Gb Windows 7 model, for $600

Some knowledgeable Trainzer posted to this forum perhaps 6 months ago the math proving that a little more than 5G or RAM is all that could be used by the combination of Win7 and TS2009 so I went with 6G (see below).
