Why? Why? There is no warning before? and we lost the work of months or even years!
I did the upgrade version of TS2010 41,615 that was stable and fully functioning,
for 42,203 version.
came to have the following problems:
- Video unstable - The screen resolution is 1920x1200 for a different one during the the session;
- The program craxs with the warning that Windows is to study the subject;
- I lost some assets that had to recover via the "Content Manager" again and some
disappeared altogether or no work;
- More serious still almost all my rolling stock, which ran normally in version 41615,
and that was part of the set, disappeared;
- The same rolling stock is still installed but although only has "Missing dependencies"
lets not put it in Session.
Why not make a prior notice that these things can happen

You are always advised to make a backup before loading patches-even Auran tell you this, and even has routines for you to do it.
It's your own fault!

Why did you not read the posts on the forum about the problems before you applied the patch? This is why the forums are here!

Unlucky would be, if I had no backups of everything. Would have lost the work of 5 years.
But even putting the assets of the Backup are errors in it.

I lost several days (paid) work once through not backing up (many years ago in the days of computers with two floppy drives, copied the blank disc over the data disc)-it teaches you not to do it again......(well, nearly)!

Hope you haven't lost it, it's probably fixable.

My first job was on a Computer IBM360 with 64k of real memory, where the "SO" was programed on BIT
and had to be a maximum of 10k, the rest of memory was necessary to run the program that was on a deck
cards of 80 columns previously compiled.

Of course I know what it is to have lost data by not doing Bachup. I lost a lot of data in all these years.

But this time I have backups. I am an old man, but age teaches.

Nothing like the shock of missing data to concentrate the mind into thinking about backups. Hope everything can be recovered.

Meanwhile what version did you update from and to? TS2010 build 41615 to 42203 went in without any problems over here. No missing assets of other issues. Naturally, I had a complete copy of the TS2010 folder in a safe place, just in case.

Have you tried reparing the asset database in CM?

After updating the program, I ran a database repair. Initially there were hundreds of bad items, which of course would not show up in Surveyor. After running a database repair, the so-called bad items were not, and the missing data showed up fine.

I hope you can recover. I too have worked with older equipment. You've a couple of decades on me, but I had the fun of fixing the old stuff and writing programs to fit in 32k of RAM.

The error occurred in the update of version 41,615 to version 42,203.

But my job comes with assets of several generations, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010,
Is this the reason?

What to do?

Install SP2 (41,615 -> 42,203) and then restore the backups (local and CDP's)? and subsequently
the reparing of the database in CM?

or;

Reset the backups before installing SP2 and then do the reparing of the database in CM?

or is there another sequence for recovery?

NP,

Your first method is the way I've done it with no problems. Once your data has been imported into CM, commit if you have to.

WARNING: Both importing and commiting content can take a very long time. Plan on doing something else while this happens. I usually do these steps over night, or while out for the day so I have no reason to touch the computer. This for me took two days. One day to import my gazillion items, and another to commit the content, which I did while I was away. I have no idea how long it took because I didn't watch the process.

Once the data is imported, close CM, reboot the machine, and relaunch CM. At this point I do a database repair. I did the extended repair, and again I left the computer alone while I went off to play the piano and go for a walk. When everything was done, my data was imported and clean.

One thing I didn't see was the version of Windows you have.

On my Win 7 home premium 64 bit with the latest NVidia 197.13 drivers. Video issues are often if not always a result of faulty drivers.

Make sure the foundation is solid before working on the superstructure or you're inviting problems.
