Why do we call 'em diesels? They should be called "electrics".

It's all in the gearing when it comes to this sort of thing. Even a 1hp motor could get a 6000 ton train going if it was geared properly. (Admittedly at a top speed of 0.00000678 mph, but that's beside the point.)

Worth noting then that a record breaking attempt at the heaviest train pull by model locos was done in germany where a couple of hundred model locos pulled a 48 ton coach 1 metre.

or is this a cunningly disguised april fool. dunno. never noted the date on the cover but it is possible to do so!!!

For capitalizing the name "Diesel."

Though many technical and trade publications treat the name with such disrespect-like it was just a petro-fuel!

The proper name for the use of the prime-mover, and traction equipment is Diesel-electric.

I "go overboard" on this...
