You! Off my planet.
Hi,
I am planning on getting a new laptop soon, and I would like some thoughts on which one to get. I have my eyes on two computers: an HP Pavilion dv7-1285dx for $1199.99, and a Gateway FX P-7805u for $1149.99.
The specs of the HP are:
Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo P8600 (2 x 2.4 GHz, 3 MB Cache, 1066 MHz FSB)
6 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM (yes, six whopping gigabytes)
500 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
512 MB nVidia GeForce 9600M GT Graphics Chip
Lightscribe DVD burner
17" 1440 x 900 screen size
The specs of the Gateway are:
Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo P8400 (2 x 2.26 GHz, 3 MB Cache, 1066 MHz FSB)
4 GB DDR3 1066 MHz RAM (yes, DDR three!)
320 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
1024 MB (1 GB) nVidia GeForce 9800M GTS Graphics Chip
LabelFlash DVD Burner
17" 1920 x 1200 screen size
Both have about an equal battery (8 cell HP, 9 cell Gateway), Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit, and both cost about the same.
I am leaning more towards the Gateway, since it has the 9800M GTS with twice the GPU power of the 9600M GT, DDR3 memory, and the 7200 RPM hard drive, but the HP has a faster processor, more (slower) memory and a bigger (slower) hard drive.
So what do you people think? Gateway or HP?
Thanks in advance!
Kyle
