Hey, I don't want to be ungreatful (I saw the announcements) since they're desperately trying to meet demands.

But, I was wondering, when will the DLS problems stop as many people on the forums have complained about the download speed.

As for users on these forums that want gratification, try third party websites instead like what's listed http://trainzresources.com/directory/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=308_1&sort=20a&page=1 sometimes, content might be listed on more then one site.

But, renember to scan for viruses, spyware and malware, you don't know what they could contain, better safe then sorry.:o

Ah, but notice it's different, it's not complaining about auran services, in fact, I'm trying to dicipate the users onto different sites to try to get the wait and the stress on auran's network lower.

P.s. I was wondering about when it will stop not that I was being impatient, I was asking like some sort of sign for how long it could go on for, so I know when to not try to contact the DLS.

I agree with you there are a lot of good third party sites. I usually save the cdp to my computer before opening with the cmp. I never had any trouble with downloads from third party sites

Saw the title and thought 'yay, someone else sick of the endless 'OMG the DLS doesn't work posts' and wondering when people will stop moaning about it...'

Well, in a way, the second part of the first post WAS about the people who moan about the DLS not working, which is why I said for them to look somewhere else.;)

G'Day, what is wrong with the DLS? I have a FCT (which is a very minimal cost) and the DLS works great for me (150 to over 300kbps) I have had no problems with downloading.:)

Just injecting an opinion, you have to discuss with the rest of the forums.

I think that the problem here is that now people with FCT are taking priority over the servers (Which auran has decided), which takes up some of the free server's slots, which makes the users without an FCT wait for the people with FCTs to finish.

But, since I have next to no knoledge about how auran works their (if it even is their) servers, you might like to have a look at http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=65836

But, that's my opinion on the subject, it could be completely wrong.

They won't fix it because there is nothing to fix. Nothing is broken.

If you want fast, reliable downloads you need to purchase an FCT.

I haven't had trouble downloading from the DLS in somewhere around 15 months now. Besides that i use Trainz Downloader Pro most of the time anyway.

It's down to too many people trying to download without a FCT, now aren't all those users of TS2009/2010 glad that they aren't having to compete with the TRS2006/2004 users for 'free' downloads as well ? :D

(laughing my socks off) because barring us made no sodding difference. :hehe:
 
I too have older versions and refuse to be BLACKMAILED or FORCED to pay out large sums, which I can not afford as I am now retired, to "BUY THE LATEST" and find that the "LATEST" is superceeded within a year!
TRS2006&2009 (still think 2006 superiour to 2009!!!!)
 
It'll stop when Auran's tired of the belly aching and pulls the plug on the DLS and the forums. Until then, there's always going to be those out there that are going to complain. I don't agree with what Auran's done with access to the DLS, but all of the complaining in the world isn't going to change anything from my experience.

For what it's worth, I haven't had any problem at all in downloading. I just downloaded about a dozen items with an average speed of 336 kbps. Quite reasonable. The only time that I've had problems is once upon a time when my Download Helper got corrupted and I had to reload it. The only real complaint that I've had is Auran not allowing uploads of 04 content, but I realized that complaining wasn't going to change that either, so, I'm just going to put it elsewhere. The gradual decrease of creators for the DLS will be Auran's loss in the long run because once creators and the community get used to going elsewhere, I don't believe Auran will get them back, even after the creators start creating in the later versions.
