that is a tank car, and yes I am shocked as much as you are after seeing that picture and it could have been much worse if that car was loaded with hazardous cargo!

I had the same reaction when I saw this,but had that tanker been loaded with any dangerous cargo,that white hopper car along with what remains of the bridge,it could have exploded and not to mention had there been people around,they could have been injured and/or killed!

It was the Minnesota bridge crash...I remember it flattened the hopper & snagged the tanker in place.
