I just can't decide. I've got Trainz2010ee on my pc but don't no if it is worth it or get the Mac version for my mac. My mac is 3.06 c2d 4 gb but a slow nvidia geforce 9400m with 256mb of shared memory.

My pc is 2.4 ghz quad q6000 intel 3gb and 1gb ati radeon 5670 or 4670 (cant remember off the top of my head).

So what does anybody reackon Trainz12 or Trainz for mac?

From what I've seen the Mac version is basically TS2010, so you already have it. The only case in which getting the Mac version makes sense is if you are planning on dumping the PC platform altogether, and Trainz is really the only thing keeping you on it. I second ct_krogen's comment though about holding off till a few bugs are worked out. The current sale doesn't apply to the Mac version anyway.

This is the paradox that the undecided must face....there will be conflicting advice on which decision should be made, and therefore the undecided are faced with making a decision on which counsel they should follow, resulting in more decisions for the undecided to make. The decision process is expanded with the infusion of a third choice....wait for the bugs to be worked out. The OP's second post seems to indicate that he was able to make a decision after all...and that is to wait for now....the number one decision the undecided choose...

What platform do you prefer?
The only reason I have Windows installed on my Mac is for Trainz and MSTS. The other half bought my TS12, she thought it was the Mac version.
So far, I'm sorta liking TS12. I'll stay with what I have until at least a patch is released for the Mac version. Still some content issues to work out it seems with the "sharing" part of the add.
I prefer an all Mac set-up. Just not ready to give NV3 the benefit of the doubt after TS2009. Once they bring CM up to speed I'll probably buy the Mac version just to run without Windows. Want to make sure I can use Profig's trees since support for older ones has been obsoleted and the choice of what I use made for me.
Once I'm sure of that, probably be the last version of Trainz I buy.

Dave.......

Thanks for all your replies.;) I prefer the mac platform( leopard ) but by the looks of things the mac version is basically the 2010 version, so I will give both a miss for a couple of months and see what what's then.:)

I will also look for the mac forum it's here somewhere lol and ask about my system. Cya later.

We have both Macs and PC's in our home I and really do love the way the Macs work so I probably may eventually replace the PC with an iMac when the PC gives up the ghost. Question: If you have the Mac version of Trainz can you download material that was created using a PC? Anybody know?

Information about that should be in the Trainz Mac forum.

NOTE: The paid-for addon packs (Duchess etc) will not work on the Mac version (information from the Trainz Mac forum)

The Mac Forums?

Obviously, I'm very new here and also trying to decide between 12 and the Mac version. Can someone please direct me to the Mac forum? It doesn't appear on the index page and I can't find any reference to "Mac" using the search feature, even though I know they're there!

Thank you, Alegroco.

Due to the way the forums are set up, you will only be able to access the Mac forum once you have installed and registered a copy of Trainz Mac.

i would wait a little bit let them work the bugs out..if there any

So far, I have not encountered any bugs. Saw one exotic bug (someone installed in one account, try to run from another account, and encountered a file permission error). I'm very pleased how stable it is on the Mac.

The only disadvantage is that the Mac does not have all features yet. In particular, the download station is clumsy. You can download stuff made on the PC, and play, but you can not yet upload. Also, the paid add-ons do not run yet. From what I understood Auran is working on this.

By the way, I only see the Mac forum when I logged in. It is at http://forums.auran.com/trainz/forumdisplay.php?f=66

I am interested in buying the Mac version of Trainz, but I would like to see the Mac forum so I could gauge the pros and cons of this version. Unfortunately aside from the sketchy newsletter releases about this, there is no real information available about this in the public domain. Issues like will the game be compatible with the impending Lion OSx upgrade? What you actually get for your money in terms of routes and rolling stock? Videos and screen dumps of the actual Mac version. There is a market for this product amongst Mac users, but I want more information before deciding on if this game is for me.

I usually play 'the other game:p' on my PC, but would like to give this a try especially as there is a Mac version which doesn't seem to be happening on RW.

I am in the same position. Every useful thread would be in the mac forum. Couldn't read only access be given?
