What railroad/railway do you live near?

I'm an 8 minute walk from one a station of the Glasgow Electric suburban lines (north of the Clyde) and trains run every 15 minutes. Speedy and pretty good timekeeping too. Into the city centre faster and more comfortably than the buses.

I live a few miles near Plymouth Diamond in Plymouth, Michigan where the CSX Saginaw Sub crosses the CSX Detroit Sub, but I live about 1 mile down the road from the Saginaw Sub. The diamond is also an interchange and has about 3 yards in the area. The CSX Detroit Sub has trackage rights with CP Rail and CSX used to experiment with the "Iron Highway" trains on it, but not anymore :(. 65% of trains in Plymouth take the Toledo Wye from the Detroit sub to the Saginaw Sub for all the Detroit-Toledo Trains, and majority of locals for CSX in Detroit are based out of Plymouth where they store/ manage the switchers (MP15, GP15T, GP40-2, and GP38-2s). Back in the 90's we used to see Chessie and FLS here alot, but CSX locals still use "Un-touched" Chessie and Conrail cabooses. You will all see the operations and the route on my CSX Saginaw Sub coming this fall for Trainz :D. -Chris

I can see the MBTA Providence Line from my Dad's Aparment, but a mile away from my mothers house. Also , on the NEC between Mansfield and Attleboro. One CSX(:() goes through town each day with 2-3 GP40's

I live near 3 rail lines. The Main East-West Canadian national line "Walker" Rail yard and the North-South Canadian Pacific line.
I also live close to the Light Rail Transit (LRT) that runs through Edmonton.

I'm about 3 miles from the former Boston & Maine main line to Portland, Maine. The rails are owned by the MBTA up the the New Hampshire border. After that the line is owned by PanAM Railways (Guilford). The route hosts the PanAM freights, Amtrak's Downeaster, and MBTA Commuter trains.

Here in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory I live about a 1/4 km away from the Ghan line. From here it is 1500km north to Darwin and also about 1500 km south to Adelaide. There are usually 2 freight trains of about 120 trucks or more with double stacked containers plus others going daily up or down plus 4 passenger trains a week too.

One will find me about once a week checking the locomotives on them at the railway station. If there are different ones to the AN and the NR classes, then I take some pictures. Sometimes one will find some older CLFs and CLPs as second units with the NRs hooked together as there is a shortage of locomotives for Freightlink, the operator of these trains.

Cheers

I live almost on top of the midland mainline in Birmingham, quite often I can hear flanges sqeeling as the trains head into New street station :)
Very handy if I want to go anywhere by train.

Thats the West Coast Mainline or the Cross Country Network, The Midland Mainline is London St Pancras to Sheffield and Derby

10 Minutes away from the Chiltern Mainline (London Marylebone - Birmingham Snow Hill/Kidderminster for those unfamiliar with it). Bus journey away from Reading station so West Coast Mainline, and I used to live near the Brighton mainline in Brighotn.

Just a short walk form my house (ok, it's a long walk.) is the old Littleton MA Depot, where there are STILL three boxcars and a cabose from the 50's or 60's. The trains that run on the line is the MBTA. The track is single line and it has been that way for the past 40 years.

I live about 1-2km from the railway. The line is operated by the NSW SRA. We get mostly 48 class locos and the occasional 44 as well as a few 81s and 82s :D

I live about 3 minutes away from the MBTA - Franklin line! - 5 minutes away from Amtrak and Acela's!

I am only a "stone's throw" away from the Florida East Coast Railway, and fellow Trainz members Floridarailmaster and Bendorsey.

Hey! Stop throwing those rocks! :p

I'm not sure where animal71bj is along the FEC mainline.

2.) Johnstown & Stonycreek RR - (USS Steel) I will get around to modeling this one.

I live within a kilometer of a rail line and can hear the trains go past (and hear the wheels on the tracks)
(It's the Western Line in Auckland)

The sea, islands, mountains and steam trains from my living room window - (and sprinters too) What more could anyone ever want?
Apart from more frequent passenger service, better rolling stock than inter-urban sprinters, a regular freight service, proper investment in the railway, less new road construction...
Mallaig, West Highland Line, ScotRail.
For views of the line, just see any of the Harry Potter films - Yes, I've photographed the Hogwarts Express from my front garden!

Born & brought up near Nottingham. Went to school next to the Midland Mainline. This is the area I'm (slowly) building in Trainz, see this thread.
