Ok for those people who collect (or would like to collect) railroad memorabilia, let's say you had $5000 to spend on a train whistle or horn. What would you get?

For me, I would get any kind of Leslie Horn or a Nathan P series horn, and a 3 chime whistle.

For whistles, either a Norfolk & Western hooter whistle or a whistle from a Southern steam locomotive. For horns, the horns found on Southern F units.

Well,

Its kinda funny. I just bought a D&RG 5 Chime reproduction today! Its not brass but steel. From what I heard, it sounds the same.

Guess this shows what my interests are.

Already bought one that I'm interested in, a Wabco A2 that was typical of interurbans in the early 1900s.. working towards a Wabco AA2 at the moment due to the interurban aspect, and due to the Iowa Traction that survives to this day that I traveled out to see.

HLJames, I think in a couple of years NJ Transit may be ridding themselves of their Arrow III's and going full push pull mode for their trains so you could probably get an AA2 off of one of those. It's gonna be a shame to see them go since they were what I rode on for my first train trip into NYC

I've already got an original SP 6 chime so I would just. use the money to get it restored as the previous owner left it sitting outside for about 20 years.
