I would like to know what kind of grass i should use on my local track its well maintained but not heavily used. I would like high detail grass please.

There are some tracks that have a grass texture on them. "SAM Track Wood Grass" and "SAM Track Wood Grass Rusty" are two of my favorites.

There is some nice grass clumps made by McGuirel and others. These run well in TS12 since they are the new Speed Grass models. The older spline grass tends not to render well.

Now having said this, placing grass becomes a dual-edged affair. You want the grass to look good, but getting the right grass-effect requires a lot of grass. The other problem will be slopes. The grass clumps will stick out of the edge and look weird. The other problem I have found is there is an extra hit on the playability in Driver. Remember this is an extra object that has to draw, and in particular the old non-speed-tree/grass kind will cause a worse of a hit as the CPU is called in to process the objects before they are rendered in the video card.

I find that good texturing can go a long way and avoid this problem and the others with object placement and quantity. It's up to you, and try it and see if the scenery both looks good and plays back well.

I use the textures Forest1 and Forest_1 extensively, as when rotated correctly, or blurred they sometimes are a great low poly fake groundcover.
