Crabby Old Geezer
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Friday, a UP train went by the old station at Bald Knob, Arkansas. The consist was all boxcars. The boxcars were very tall, long, had centered double-doors, and all were black or very dark gray. As usual when I need it, I didn't have my camera, and the train went by so fast, I almost missed it. Does anyone have a clue what type boxcar I encountered? I think some of the road names were CSX. Thanks in advance

Dave,

These couldn't be the double wide box cars I wonder. They are the 60-foot boxcars with the double doors.

Here's one I found on Bing.

I'm not sure. As I said, these were black or very dark grey, and they didn't look very old. Maybe something new??

Boxcars get repainted and reused so an older one can look new.

Here's a CSX car (Courtesy of RR Mods via Bing Images) :)

That'll teach you to leave your camera / phone at home! Now I am curious. Let's help Dave find it.

86' auto parts boxcar? Here in the Detroit area I see tons of them, mainly CSX, CR, CN, GTW, NS and UP, and some of the patched cars look pretty ratty. I have seen some CSX cars with patches over the whole side of the car.
