That is presumably because your dinner was pretty good, ............perhaps even as good as my experience of TS2010, and hence there was no need to complain.

BTW, I heard 2004 was pants, because people were complaining about scripts crashing it all the time.

For christsake, some are even complaining that the patch to fix it, actually breaks it.

Whether you buy it or not is entirely up to you.
However many people are not having problems and not slagging it off. People without problems do not usually go to a forum to complain.
The majority of repeat complaints that haven't been solved seem to be from the same few people aided by those who have not even bothered to try it and cannot resist an opportunity to shove the knife in a bit further.

Fact - If it was that bad it would be affecting all users.
Fact - it isn't.

The only real way to evaluate any software is to actually use it, a second hand opinion based on others comments be they correct or not has no value or use, neither does one from someone who gave up at the first glitch which could even be their fault but of course it never is. :hehe:

If I actually took any notice of people dissing software on forums, I would probably have a PC with no operating system or programs on it.

Most of the "why does auran do this" and "2010 is crap" posts are generally written by people who don't or can't read, follow instructions or have the attention span aof a goldfish I had 2010 since it was released without no major probs unlike 2004 running on vista and having to wait an hour and a half everytime 2004 loaded, having to use that trainz objectz programme to try and fix errors if you could work out exactly what the errors are.

Trust me it's 1000000% better than 2004

Bear in mind that an EDR opens and re-commits every asset in the database, and re-compresses all of the textures as well, if I understand it correctly. For 200GB, this is going to take a long time...

Personally I'm getting on pretty well with TS2010, though the new hotfix has slowed down asset selection in surveyor quite a bit...

hI,(I THINK THE PROBLEM IS THEY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY IT) i discover every day digging deep in mi trainz version and i say that .... if i know what i know now i give 100 usd for this game version , its amazing the potential of this version and im stupefying for all i can do whit then ....... any day pass and more potential i discover in there... sorry for others users but 2006 is many light years behind the 2010 and 2009 to.

p.s. I Have now the 44088 automatic patch from auran and i must tries and test mi models, i can say i dont have a unique crash or fault in 3 months now in trainz 2010EE (intel pentium core duo 512 mb graf card more 4g ram memo (IMPORTANT NO STANDARD MEMO --Kingston) and Wind Xp prof. 64b sp3)

I've just finished an EDR & it took about 15mins.
All kuids I download with Downloader pro are kept in a data base seperate drive to TS2010 ( 27.5gb ) roughly 51,000 kuid files.
Even with all imported into TS2010 my entire folder included built-in is only 52gb.

How long did it take you to download that much content.
Mine is what I've downloaded over 6yrs

I am again saying that they have to improve their "MULTITHREAD PROGRAMMING"

Because when trainz run it consumes a lot of threads that do "LESS WORK" and consumes "LOT OF SPACE " interms of 'RAM'


ON COMPARING with previous versions. , the Concept has not changed , only the contents are increased except "TEXTURE QUALITY" .

If they are getting any difficulty , they can launch another trainz version (trainz 2011) that is only or those who has GRAPHICS CARD 256 or higher ..

Look Trainz2010 i dont want offend you in any way, wee live in a free world, but i think i m already to much content in mi Auran dir 23.9 giga total, and 16 giga in the content dir, its not realistic to have 200 g of content (almost a full disk and maybe a defrag an free space can improve your disk speed and what type off disk he is?? You already see if you have bad blocks or sectors semi damage who slows your disk access?? a virus?? if you have this problems you can have 4x at 6x time longer in the extended data base repair) a 13x times more then me its takes in my computer 1 hour to make a full repair.
(the Concept has not changed , only the contents are increased except "TEXTURE QUALITY" .) Its exactly in this point you are completed wrong the concept dont change right, but the architecture programming and core engine are many modifications very different and cmp have completed different to....
Maybe you have afraid of Auran dls shut down forever ...that s not going to happen.

NOw put 25 files in A folder and the other 25 files in B folder. Put the twos in the main folder. Now open the main folder, it will open very quickly by spending msec

Now if say that there are 2 threads, ONE THREAD WILL LOOK AT ONE FOLDER, and the other will take care of the second folder. will not it be better than the previous .

Good grief................. you really have no idea, that is exactly what is happening!

If you enable developer options when running, you would have seen that as well a TadDaemon, there are several instances of TrainzUtil "fixing" your database, each thread working on a different set of files, that is multitasking.

In my local folder which is 29.8GB there are 346,814 Files in 29,650 folders.
Assuming you have 200GB which is nearly 7 times bigger then you will probably have 7 times the number of files, around 2 million files.

You have a PC not a Cray super computer.

My thoughts (I won't be responding to whoever slags me off about this):

If you choose to have such a stupid unnecessary amount of assets, it is expected that you should have to wait such a stupid (necessary, in this case) amount of time as you perform a database repair. (More assets = more time)

For the record: I have had no problems with TS2010.
In my opinion, I see no reason why people wouldn't want to upgrade to it!!

You do realize the "time left" in most cases is useless, it doesn't know how big the files are until it gets to them. when its processing a small file, it will show a small time remaining (as if all files are that size) but as soon as it hits a large file it will shop up loads of time left.

The only accurate one I have run across scans the files before it starts, to giev itself an idea of the amount it will be doing, the problem is that it takes ages, as in effect is it scanning every file, telling you how long it will take, then going through them all again to do its job.

If you want an accurate time remaining that's fine, continue arguing but realize that if they do fulfill your wish, you will be waiting much longer on-top of the usual time for it to repair your database!!!
