I wanted to thank everyone that has helped me sort through my early problems with
TRS 2010.
I think I know the answers to what some of these things are but if some one would please answer thanks:
MESH
Textures

Also when I had TRS 06 I downloaded some items that would make to farm lot or a field of grain, I not talking about where I would use the circle and go over an area these were self contained squares with every thing in place.
And one last question is there a directory of third party providers?

Stridge,

MESH is the model wireframe or skeleton that makes the model what it is. Every object has a skeleton as it is what gives the model its shape.

Textures are the paint on the surface.

Think in terms of a plastic model. You put the model together by assembling the parts and gluing them together. This is the mesh.

The textures are the paint and decals that you put on the model. In some 3d modeling programs, such as 3ds Max, the default color is known as "white plastic".

Texture placement is done through what is called UV mapping. This is the x-y coordinates that tell the program where to place the decals and paint. There are different types of UV mapping. Cylinderical means that tubular objects such as pipes and drums will have the proper mapping so that the textures look correct. Planar and Cubic are used for flat surfaces and cubic-shaped objects respectively.

In TRS2006 and above, all of the content is located in your \Auran\TRSxxxx\User\Local folder, or Local folder. You cannot really access these items directly. You need to use Content Manager to do that. If items have been downloaded, and they don't appear in Trainz, ensure that they have been committed to the asset database, and there are no errors.

I hope this explains this clearly.

John
