What happens during a re-install?

I have had TWO active tickets related to problems trying to patch my TS12, I have had NO response in 3 weeks from Auran.

This leads me to have to take matters into my own hands. I'm pretty sure my problem, trying to patch from 49922 to 57720 (before I go any further), may require a re-install. I am getting the following message:

Ready to install from local patch file.
Current version: 49922.

Checking for available disk space for patching.
Unpacking patch file...
Patching from 49922 to 57720...

Failed to patch Builtin\ts12a.ja, file contents do not match

Failed to apply the patch: 49922_to_57720
Patching aborted.

I underlined the message to distinguish it.

My question: IF I am going to do a reinstall...does that 'erase' or remove any paid rolling stock from anywhere in the program? Or, does it simply overwrite the files found in a normal install
and not bother any add-ons? Is there a way to FIX the above problem without having to do a complete re-install?

Thanks in advance....

Copy out your UserData folder. This contains everything you've downloaded and installed.

This is the only way to guarantee not losing anything you've paid for.

You can then, hopefully, reimport your data into the unpatched version.

Anyway...

Why did the patch fail? Do you have any details on this?

The main reasons are usually due to not enough disk space, antivirus running at the same time, or something else such as corrupted data/ TS12 install.

Okay then, thank you for the assistance. According to the thread above, and in particular this sentence: "File xxx.ja does not match
This error can either mean you have the wrong folder selected, or you have cancelled the patch previously, which means a reinstall.", it looks like I'm going to have to do that reinstall. I know the folder is correct because the patch picks the precise location I am using for TS12. So...I'm off to copy the UserData folder....sigh!

Thanks everyone for the help. A full reinstall has done the trick. Laborious for sure with my bloated Userdata folder, but the new install patched nicely. Thanks again!!
