What happened to checkrail.com?

After his veiled references that Jointed Rail was out to destroy freeware creators which was done in the SD70-Mac thread which has since been closed and then getting called on what he said by Jointed Rail, he's decided to take his toys and go home. For those of you missed reading said thread here it is.

What he did to Jointed Rail after all the effort and work they ahd put into his last route with no expectation of any financial reward was just completely wrong.

If he is hosting with Godaddy, they have been doing some shifting between servers, during which time callers will get the can't find message. Before you jump to conclusions, wait a day.

After reading his comment I've lost all respect for him. :n:

The community doesn't need him if he's going to make disingenuous comments like that.

It's not a message related to the hosting server being relocated - it's showing an empty root directory for his site. He deleted all of the files in his site root.

Truly a shame to let a GAME cause this much turmoil in your life.

Ignoring the spat with JR, which I suggest people keep out of as none of us know what actually happened. Considering the number of times Checkrail has been hacked and Andy has had to take it down, I'm surprised he's bothered to put it back up as many times as he has. Lets not jump to conclusions yet, it may be another hacker attack.

The real tragedy is that one ugly hacker could get such a spiky wedge inbetween such closely associated people like Andy & JR.
Neither side deserves bashing, mind you, its the hacker who ignited this.
A shame.

I dont support Andys rant, but I have a huge trainload of respect for him as a routebuilder.
That will never change on my end!

And to whoever hacked him: I hope you rot in the deepest bilge of whatever hell you believe in!

Payware should not be immune from criticism. At least courteous criticism. Freeware is a protected specie.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt, people say things when they are annoyed or frustrated that they probably don't mean, just look at some of the rants on here when something goes wrong with Trainz.

Ok, guys, I really don't want to have to close this. Please refrain from commenting on the 'payware' discussion from the other thread. If this discussion is continued here, then we may need to close this thread, or take further action.

We don't mind a calm/friendly discussion on the pros and cons of payware, but as with the other thread, this can get out of hand and in this case is somewhat off-topic (or at minimum, premature).

Regards

Well said there Zec.

The only issue I sometimes come across with both freeware and payware content is when encrypted scripts are used. I can understand to a certain extent why it is done, but it does mean that if the script then fails to function correctly in later versions, it can then only be fixed by the original creator, who may not even be active.

I agree with Shane. I buy quite a bit of payware, if it's what I'm looking for, but why should I have to buy it again, to run it in a newer version of the game when the scripts no longer work? I also have to agree with what Andy said. When great freeware creators like Andy and others quit creating, this sim is done. Andy has contributed a lot to this community and when he makes a good point, you kick him to the curb like yesterday's garbage. There was another freeware creator, who built GREAT loco's, but isn't around anymore to update his stuff. Back in the day, Tyler and children from another group would harass him and deface his work. I've sat back and read questions asked by newbies and watched the way that they are treated and am amazed that this place is even still around.

They need a "Beating a dead horse" Smiley in the selection box.

LOL.

I've been using trainz for a little less than a year and building routes, I've stood back and watched everyone for a while then decided to start posting. from what i gather is there are way more people that don't do anything but reap the benefits of other creators work and do not do anything to contribute to the community its self, I.E. they don't build route, locos, or any asset to that manner, there is also to many people that just bug the hell out of people trying to get free stuff and the worst of all the scum known as payware traders and one is to many! you wouldn't believe the number people that have never posted on the forums that have messaged me to ask for the K4 and A5 and l1 for free
more people need to stop depending on the payware and freeware creators to give them things to enjoy for them selves and start learning how to make their own, then this community would flourish!
As for the jointed rail being blamed for hacking Andy's site I don't believe that one bit, they are way to busy to ever do that, and i think they have way more people trying to hack them then vise versa.
