What does the "tons" refer to in "enginespec"?

Hi everyone! Quick question about the units: I noticed that "m = weight of the vehicle (tons)" at HERE #Resistance_calculations, is that referring to metric tons (1000kg), short tons (US, 2000 lbs), or long tons (UK, 2240 lbs)? Just want to make sure I’m understanding the scales correctly. Thanks for your help!
