I have recently installed trainz simulator 12 on my windows 8 laptop. I am very pleased with the game, but one thing I don't like is that when I zoom out from the train, no matter what train it is, it turns black, but when I zoom in really close, then it looks normal. Any way to fix this???

Welcome to the forums here and to Trainz TS12.

You do need to register your program for full support.

There is no problem running the program on Windows 8 so what are the specs on your laptop?

In general built-in graphics, especially the Intel chipset, doesn't work well with TS12.

Welcome, i'm Chris. Going on from what John said, please register your program first. Next, open the Launcher. and go to Options. Select Display Settings and try switching from OpenGL to DirectX and vice-versa. Tell us what happens.

nicky9499, I got Trainz through steam.

John, my laptop has an Intel celeron processor, I have 4 GB of RAM, and
a 64-bit operating system

And there is no way to fix it?

First install DirectX 9.01c. Even though you are running Open/GL, you still require these drivers. Click on the sticky at the top of the forum for Shane Turner's utilities. He has an easy-to-use DX installer which does not require fathoming through Microsoft's website.

For performance, you need to adjust the performance sliders a bit to the left to take into account the lesser performance. These adjust the draw distance and details such as those for trees and textures among other things.

Other than that, outside of replacing the video card which can't be done, I'm not sure what can be done as this is a laptop.

First, what Trainz version are you using? EG: TS2010, TS12?

If you want to download anything from what is called the Download Station, you will need to register your game first.

As others have tried to tell you, If you register the game on line you will gain privilege to thousands of extra assets/mods, from the web site, far more than you can shake virtual a stick at. What's more there all free, except for the odd few.

Another couple of reasons why it's important to register serial numbers with N3V (in addition to what Jonathan has said above):

Firstly, it prevents people assuming or thinking it's not a legit copy.
Secondly, it allows access to the correct forum(s) for technical support for your version.
