Thanks, both of you

Do either of you know any good tutorials for making buildings, only i want to make some custom content for the route but, never had used Gmax, i dont know where to start:'(

You could look at tafweb's website - he has a good tutorial illustrated by his model of a UK bank which covers all the essentials.

Hi Privite,

I was on that line from Minehead last September.

There is a lot of work ahead of you if you are going all the way to the other end.

Where did you get the green diesel in your screenshot? It is exactly like the one in service on the line.

This looks interesting.

Many years ago Just Trains released a commercial package named Train Driver which depicted the WSR in a 'stand alone' package based on the TRS2004 core. In this package is a DMU Class 117 as on the WSR. Here is a screenie of Minehead station from the package with said DMU.

The one in privite's screenie looks like the class 101 which is available on the DLS.

It will be interesting to compare the older, commercial version, with the newer by privite which looks superb at the moment.

BTW, I can get the JT WSR to run in TS2010 by importing the JT WSR content.

Hi and thanks

The green diesel was a class 101, on Download station, search "BR Class 101 Green (DMCL)" Also im hoping making the route to the other end, so im not expecting it to be done any time soon:hehe: , although i am getting through quite quickly

@robd

You have just cleared up a mystery. When I was in Minehead Station shop last September I noticed a single copy of the WSR for sale. I thought it looked like Trainz but could not be sure so I did not buy.

That may have been the last copy ever! I don't think it's been available for some time.

Rob.

Edit: Just a thought, if it was called WSR it may have been the MSTS add on.

Sorry to hear that. You could also try Ianz Trainz, Paul Hobbs and (I think the spelling is correct) Jutta for GMax buildings tutorials.

As I'm finding out at the moment, creating content takes a lot of practice, so it is perfectly expected for your first few creations to have errors. I managed to get my first vreation into Trainz, but am having issues with the textures - I'll try again tomorrow and hope for the best. :)

Hi David,
Yes, texturing is the tricky bit... ha ha. I was told to make a square and in each square place a number (in a graphics package like PSP or PShop) so you make a kind of 4-sided die, or dice to use the wrong word. Another thing to do is colour each square differently.
Size that to the power of 2 and turn it into a targa file, then put it into gmax to the folder that holds all your textures.
Make a box, put the die texture on it, click UVWmapping and then UVWunwrapping. Open the unwrapping by clicking the little x and choose Select a face. Then click the little white triangle to the left of the ALLIDs box at the bottom of the unwrap screen and then fiddle until you have the white lines over one part of your texture by moving the corner Handles, so just one number is within it. Do this will all Faces and seperate numbers. It's good practice at mapping and will stand you in good stead.
And thank you to (secret name) who explained to me how to do it.

Hi everyone

To david,
how did you import your gmax creations into trainz, so you could see them on your game, only thats the part not working for me.
