water looks odd in windows 7

Using a fully patched version of 2009. Upgraded to a new tower (amd quad core) and all of my content transfered over perfectly. Just took a look at my layout in progress, and the water looks odd. It doesn't ripple....instead you see the individual sqaures of water light up one at a time. Is this a setting I can change?
thanks

If I understand "herky jerky" correctly, mine will do that on a very big route if I try moving the compass before the caching has finished. It drags and stutters, but is OK once the caching is complete – which normally takes just a few seconds, waiting for the red caching bar to reach the far right.

If that’s not the solution, check out your settings in Surveyor Options. You might need to adjust the 'compass speed' slider, or change between 'keys' or 'mouse' compass movement.

nope, didn't fix the stuttering :(
guess this amd quad just likes open gl better.

Drain the lakes and streams!

Hi again PennCentral.

I've just tried going back to OpenGL to see if I still had the nasty old rocking square water tile problem, instead of the usual nice ripple.

I haven't. It now all works perfectly well in either DirectX and OpenGL.

I do upgrade my drivers, so I reckon that's the reason.

I have an ATI Radeon HD2400XT(PRO).

Cheers
