want to reskin

Hi
Can anyone help me I would like to try some reskins but I don't know if it can be done, I am running trs12 build49922. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be gratreful. I know when I had trs2004 you could use paint shed but that does not seem to be on trs12

You will need a graphics editor like Paint.Net, GIMP, or Photoshop.

You will need a program such as 'Photoshop' or 'Paintshop Pro' or a good free one like 'Gimp' http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

Or Paint Shop Pro X2, my favorite.
Don't forget to save the tga files uncompressed.
And together with PEV's "ImagesToTGA texture converter" you have not any problem with textures with Alpha Channels.

Best way to learn skinning is just start trying.
If it goes wrong, try it again and again, untill the results are OK.
Making misstakes is the best way to learn.

Use PEV's "Mesh Viewer 2" to have a quick inspection without committing everytime to see the result ingame.
Just dubble click the .im file.
On the other hand, don't forget to commit before you start your Trainz.
Without commiting the file there's no result.

One piece of advise...

If once you start down the dark path of reskinning, forever will it dominate your Trainz time, consume you it will, as it did to me :hehe:.
