Getting into the Wayback Machine and activating the Flux Capacitor to 2002 or so, *someone* made a Waffle House for Trainz, complete with the obligatory burned out letter in the sign and the aroma of bacon and maple-flavored high fructose corn syrup. (Okay, I made up that last part...) If I recall correctly, it was pre-SP3 and available on trainz.luvr.net.

Or something like that.

In any case, I can no longer find it. Does anyone know where one might regain this piece of Trainz history?

they havent updated trainz.luvr.net in a while, so i dont expect that you will find much, i think this sentence may sound brutal but it is the truth :-(

Sadly the Wayback machine isn't indexed, nor is it a reliable resource.

Such a pity.

To find anything on the machine, you must have the exact URL, down to the last letter. Anything else will induce instant failure. I was able to salvage some of my older works there and I thank them for that. Unfortunately, the most important stuff I need just isn't there. Why, I just don't know.

Doing a manual search isn't possible. You can actually access all sites hosted by a particular ISP and begin to sift through the 30,000 to 500,000 un-indexed pages. The problem is, you can only search the first 10,000. The rest are inaccessible.

The Wayback machine is a wonderful concept, but that's were it stops.

Thank you, but I've gotta ask... "Black Pages DLS"? Is that the opposite of "Yellow Pages"? The URL you provided is the regular DLS, so maybe you are making a joke that I'm missing.

I've tried searching the DLS and have never found it. Frustrating, and it happens all too often.

Yes, John, I've noticed that when I type in "L&N" or "NYS&W", for example, after page 1 of search results, there are dozens of pages added in that list items containing "L" instead of "L&N" or "NYS" instead of "NYS&W".

I miss the days when the computer would actually search for what you typed.
 
Often times the link I posted (you referred to as the regular DLS), is a place I where one can find most items that are not listed on the TRS2006 game DLS pages in the games: Manage Content-CMP-DLS page that is a white page.

I just found the Waffle House and sign on the Trainz Luvr website. You will have to do a search for the files to find them. They are Pre SP3 files and they are downloaded as exe files.

I downloaded the exe file and extracted the files and imported content into 06. After getting them into 06 I opened each file and fixed the config files to 06 standards and recommitted the files. Checked them out and they are showing up in Trainz.

Hope this helps in finding what you are looking for.

CincySouthernRwy, Even with Linda's suggestion, you may still end up with nothing.

here's how to find it. Follow the steps exactly:

Go to Trainz Luvr
  • Click Advanced Search next to the search box on the home page.
  • Check the radio button Database: Outside Parties Downloads
  • Choose Category: All
  • Search Inside: Select Title Only from drop down box
  • Search For: waffle house (Lower case)
Search result will be IPE Waffle House

How do you fix the config files to 06 standards ?

In Altoona Pa Waffle King serves: "Waffles", "Flatcar Flapjacks", and my favorite: "The Derailed Mess"-Eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, peppers, ham, cheese, gravy (gastronomical nightmare...yum !)

When I was touring with a well-known rock band we seriously considered the concept of "smell-orama" for a breakfast-related song, unfortunately the idea was deemed too dangerous and law-suit prone.

Open the file in explorer, open the conf text and delete the whnight.bmp and save.

Then open the file in CCP and add the missing tags. When you open it in CCP there will be a list of missing tags at the bottom of the page. Click on each one and fix the errors. Save and exit.

That is all I did and it works.

Thanks 3/4 way there...Mmmmm Waffles !!!!!

I almost have it...except the night mode in the resturaunt is dark (not illuminated)...I quess they are closed ? :hehe: Working on getting the night lights working...Getting hungry just thinking about waffles and the "Derailed Mess"-(See Above Post: for ingredients)!:mop: :udrool: :mop:
