Vanishing posts

Sampug, falcon500 made that statement just so someone would get upset and retaliate, didn't you realize that everybody else ignored it ;) and for good reason :D

Angela, if you were talking about dissapearing posts, theres a well known black hole round here that swallows threads when they get to the bottom of the page.
it normally spits them out again after a little while on the next page.

its happened to me loads of times.

Time spent

Hello Angela,

Don't be distraught over this. It has happened to me many, many times. I used to think that I was being banished for some reason then found that if I spend more than five minutes (on average) to answer a post it will not show up. I have taken to using notepad to create posts then copy and paste it into the forum. Have not lost one since!

Live, Laugh, have Fun!

Firstly, thanks you all, I do appreciate it.
Just to clear up the point, it was about my posts on here that simply vanish for some odd reason, very frustrating. It was NOT about lack of replies or even bad replies. Nothing to do with the younger generation who are probably quicker at learning than I am....
As stated above, it may have been that I spent too much time typing the posts and when sent up it went ether instead of either! But wherever it went it was still annoying.
As you can all see I have looked at the thread after a few days and posted, after all, you all took the time to do just that so it would have been very bad manners for me not to.
Yes, I have been around an awful long time here, since UTC in fact, although I did start with the original Trainz, so right through until now.
And it is good to see certain other 'senior' members who have stuck with it as well so I don't feel terribly alone.

Thank you and bless you all,

Angela

That's what I was thinking.

You could always try a search to see if your post/thread is still there Angela. Sometimes also a mod will move the post to an off limits area if there has been something that violates CoC.

Violate CoC!

Me violate CoC!!! I don't think so, you know what my posts are like, nothing too dramtic.

Angelah,
As a safety backup, If you think you've taken too long in typing, hit the button far top right of the message board, the one with a small and large (aA), this will enable you to left click and highlight your text, then with the cursor over the highlighted text, do a right click which will bring up a box, then click copy from the box, now you can send your post, and if it doesn’t appear just do another post by right click and paste.

It’s also good for checking spelling and grammar in MS Word.

Well I see the whole "TS 2010 will it ever run on time ?" thread plus a few others in similar vein have vanished from the boards this morning, currently for reasons unknown but one can attempt a few educated guesses. (No doubt this post will be disappeared by the thought police too!).

Edit: Just found the post which explains "why", however instead of consolidating the existing threads into the one, i.e. conserving peoples' views and concerns, the surplus threads simply seem to have vanished...

I sometimes wonder why I bother posting when trying to help folk as some of them just up and vanish almost as soon as I send them. Second one in a little over a week!
Don't think I will bother much after this one, it's all a bit pointless!

Angela

Don't let it get to you, i get more posts removed than most. :hehe:

Shame about the 'possible breach of promise' thread, that had entertainment value written all over it. :)

Also gone is the question raised about whether future patches will be available seperately from the auto-patching mechanism.
