Utter Nonsense...

I see them magic mushrooms have been selling well again, I wonder what next, no airports anymore, aircraft just land in your street...:)

Soon, some crazy bugger will invent moving factories and industries, so freight trains never have to stop. Stupid, huh?

Wait, why stop there!? Lets make our houses move too, so we can step out of the trains into our living rooms! ;)

Blade runner or The Fifth Element comes to mind.
I was reminded of "Caves of Steel" were urban slidewalks were common and the game of quickly moving from high to low speed and back trying to lose your opponent was considered great fun.

Well I can step from my living room to two different rooms with computers and into the world of Trains without leaving my home. Wonderful isn't it?! :hehe:

Pehaps like in the Simpsons-Fly vs Fly they could use the highly sophisatacated doo-wacky transporter ... and beam passengrs over to the speeding train ! (can't find the video ... bummer).

I'd hope no rodents got teleported with me. A fly or rat head would be a bummer (and a conversation starter I suppose)! :p

I had posted a link to this article on another forum about a month back. I knew it looked familiar.

I think the whole concept looks really interesting. Even though it would require it's own independent rail system, and there are some kinks that need to be ironed out (most of them have already been pointed out in this thread)...

Then again, I am a bit of a technophile, so things like this are always interesting to me.

The problem I see is someone freezing while changing between trains. This freeze would be deadly because the person would never have a chance to switch between trains completely. This is actually a problem with people that have Parkinson's Disease. They tend to freeze when going from solid surfaces such as hardwood or tile floors to carpet or grass. With this they tend to fall because the body keeps going, but the feet and legs stop. As someone with PD, I also have trouble going on escalators and on moving sidewalks because of my freezing issues.

So keeping this in mind, and thinking of the cost to make something like this work, I don't think it'll happen anytime soon.
