Using Portals with 42in Track

I am making a layout with 42in track (based on a route in New Zealand). The end of the route has a long tunnel which is an obvious place to insert a portal to consume trains entering the tunnel and generate new trains. However, I cannot see an obvious way to change the gauge of the track in the portal, and without doing that the trains just derail before entering the portal.

Can someone help me with how to make this gauge change?

Thanks

The gauge should make no difference to the portal operation. I have NG and invisible boat track connected to the portals on the same route. If they derail before the portal I would check the track is connected correctly.

Yes - Most portals work seamlessly with 3ft 6"/ 42" / 1066.8mm narrow gauge track. Observe it change to your chosen track-type when you connect it to the portal and a similar way to Multiple Industry New track segments.
Just tested this in Build 116678 (latest SP5 build) with <kuid2:96914:22000:2> Portal Basic Short and <kuid:182464:80026> 3ft6in Protrack F Rusty Rubble/Dark Timber and as soon as the track connected to the portal track, the portal track changed to the 3ft 6" Protrack.

Thanks to both of you for the advice. It seems the track I had been trying to attach the portal to was incompatible, but changing to a protrack that had used elsewhere worked.
