Using portal feature

Hi O Knowledgeable ones!

-Am I right in thinking, that if you install the portal feature into your 'layout', you can remove and add rolling stock without having to return to to the surveyor section and start again from there?
-I installed a portal and unwanted rolling stock duly disappeared down the 'hole'. If you can add new stock to a 'running' layout, how do I do this please?

You can also use the Emit Train Now asset available on the DLS for emitting trains on demand built from a list of the rollingstock you have.
