@kittycraft
Hi. It isn't remake as such but the layout you are talking about was my inspiration. Gotta love the works of Lance Mindheim.

Mountains & Mole Hills...

Hey Joe,

Question for you. Do you use any special software program to create the mountains & landscapes depicted in your SoCal images? They look darn realistic and far outweigh anything possible that I know of in TS2010 (from my experience). I myself am a route-builder by trade, not a creator of Motive power, etc so this angle of the hobby really appeals to me.

I've seen in the past, a program which I forget the name of now, which allowed satellite images of an area of land to be re-created in a 3D format. Not sure if its been by-passed by now with something better, as it was a year or so ago that I'd seen examples of it, and this led me to wonder how I might be able to improve on my landscaping!

Merry Christmas to you and well done on the Route! Clearly you're a bit of a "rembrandt" on the subject!

Cheers

Richard.

Hey N8, While you're on the subject... Maybe you might want to do a couple P&C dock F7's as they were operated and maintained by the Bessemer and were actually the last F7's to still operate on the B&LE in the early 90's Just a suggestion for anyone else into the great lakes area.

-thanks for the comment. I only use transdem to create the land, everything else is me. I'm using nothing but my own created textures. i took a trip to so. cal. a couple months back and i was there for around a month. while i was there, i took a ton of pictures in which helped me make a lot of the textures you are seeing.
-i really owe my skills to dermmy which gave me great advice back in the past, even before i created the mojave sub. ever since then i just get a little better at mixing them up. its all really, just trial. error and practice, hence why it took me so long to even start posting pics of the cajon route. its still not even a finished product as i keep looking back at my reference material... there will need to be changes made.
-best advise i can give is practice practice practice and make pallets and or groups of stuff... trees, textures, buildings etc. have variations of colors, dont spin textures, rotate them. take your time dont rush! good luck :hehe:
