...oh my...

 Well hello Sureshot!:hehe:

I looked in CM & had deleted them, I just wanted to identify the Content Creators so someone could go find them & I'm too busy to look on the DLS...

I never mentioned this before, I didn't want to hurt Franks feelings cause he'd gather all his toys & go home...

I do like the NS D-840B's you did in NS & The Conrail, though they could stand a little updating...they make perfect units for a Triple Crown RoadRailer, that is what they did when NS first acquired them.

I studied the D-832B years ago when I modeled in HO. The carbody is shorter around the pilots, inboard from the step wells, & the engine cab has only six doors each side. Other than that the '32 rides the same wheelbase as the Dash-7 and U-boats. There is overhang between the bogey and wheel wells.

I also visited one in Krannert, GA(west of Rome), at the old Central of Georgia, Coosa Yard.

The controller was positioned not only for long hood forward, but also to conveniently run "backwards."

You did a great skinning job, Thanks! These are some of my favorite road-switchers.

How can you look at a diesel, and tell them apart? They all look the same to me. Yes I can tell the difference between a highhood and low nose, and streamliner.

Rock On!

amen to that...ALCo's i know hands down (since i consider them steam engines:D) but EMD's i'm stumped on. I can tell first and second-gens apart, i know the difference between a high and low nose, i know a streamlined E from and F, but even there i can't tell the models apart.

VMD did have an NS unit, but it seems to have vanished. i remember skinning one to whiteface/horsehead scheme and being told one already existed when i was with VMD. recently i upgraded all VMD assets to 2010 error-free so the site can open back up, but did not see any NS dash 8s.

Its honestly isn't that hard. You can distinguish a GP38 from a GP40 because the 38 has a small raised box right before the dynamic brake area.
the 30 has the unmistakeable semi-streamlining to it. The 35's are I believe slighty shorter than the 40's and 38's. Six axle units are easy. The SD38 is much like the GP series in the box before the dynamics. The SD35 is shorter than the 40, however one SD40 is built on a 35 frame, the SD45's have the flaired radiators, the SD50's didn't have the long porches, neither did the 60's.
The difference from a straight SD70M and SD70M-2 is the obvious cab design.
The list goes on. Just study the engines a little more, you'd be surprised the differences...

Cheers,
Woody

Ahhh yes...but can you tell the difference between an EMD F3 and an F7? Not so easy...:) In many cases the differences are internal...not external.

Cheers,
Fred

Went for a stroll on the C&F Secondary tonight.

Tied onto our outbound for the afternoon. Yard is looking a bit empty, damn economy. Don't mind the switchstands...
