@illinoiscentral: that may not be necessarily true. But its a possiblitiy. Just cause it's a simulator, doesn't mean it can't be generic... I mean look at MSTS for example.

Look at 75% of the default content for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006.
The SD40-2 was complete crap! Good thing Auran changed that...

What has a junky ATSF SD40 versus a overhauled UPRly SD40 have to do with the genericity of the rolling stock in that photograph?

To me it looks like it could be the (semi)new Grand Theft Auto IV, but since I've only seen screenshots of GTA IV and have never played it, I have no idea. It doesn't quite look like Trainz though.

Wait, maybe it's Trainz 2020! :D

Take Care

Just proving a point that default content in Trainz is just as bad as it is in MSTS, which you brought up! That too has nothing to do with it.:)

I hate LOD.
I've been giving the critical eye to screenshots lately, and have reached the conclusion that content is the most important factor towards realism. Those who post with locomotives made by Justin, or RR Mods, or Shane give themselves a better chance of a realistic shot. Even better when the rolling stock is just as attractive, but when I see one of the older engines pulling older cars the effect is jarring. I also despise seeing the newer engines pulling LOD cars, or older cars that disappear into a foggy fuzz. Now, my eyes ain't that good any more, but I can still tell the difference.
Some of the shots above look like the viewer has cataracts, while some maintain a crisp integrity that is pleasing to the eyes.
Dermmy's shot is great, even and consistant. WCL's shot is fine, no foggy monstrosities there!
Even some shots with nicer carz are ruined by an old car from Auran!

But what I hate the most is that track that changes due to LOD, and those damn fuzzy traincars!:(

We now return to your thread already in progress...

I totally agree with you. The unfortunate reality is that we need LOD for performance's sake and that unfortunately, some of us are stuck with somewhat older computers. If I win the lottery, the first thing I'm doing is splurging on a monstrosity computer. :D

GN + CB&Q + NP = BN --> ATSF +BN = BNSF --> BNSF + CN = FAIL

You mean...

GN + CB&Q + NP = BN --> ATSF +BN = BNSF --> BNSF + CN = TRIED, DENIED AND FAILED :D

:wave:

Gisa ^^

Thought the only Tried-denied-failed was Tri-Fail which is in hot water :p

That would be a bad mix of BNSF + CN. Seems like a bad entry in command prompt.....

In 1999, CN and Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF), the second largest rail system in the U.S., announced their intent to merge, forming a new corporate entity North American Railways to be headquartered in Montreal to conform with the CN Commercialization Act of 1995. The merger announcement by CN's Paul Tellier and BNSF's Robert Krebs was greeted with skepticism by the U.S. government's Surface Transportation Board (STB), and protested by other major North American rail companies, namely Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and Union Pacific Railroad (UP). Rail customers also denounced the proposed merger, following the confusion and poor service sustained in southeastern Texas in 1998 following UP's purchase of Southern Pacific Railroad (SP). In response to the rail industry, shippers, and political pressure, the STB placed a 15-month moratorium on all rail industry mergers, effectively scuttling CN-BNSF plans. Both companies dropped their merger applications and have never refiled. The roadblock dates back to the Carnegie era "robber barons" when the concept of "anti-trust" was born. Therefore, when it comes to railroad mergers, the federal government is more rigid than usual.

Love the West From Denver series. Absolutely love them.

Midnight Club Los Angeles and it's South Central add-on pack. Last shot was SP's side of the LA rail yards. Sure wish Trainz looked this good. :'( If we could all coax Rockstar to do up a trainsim then.. :D

Now for some real Trainz:
