Ive been working for the past 3 days on this scene. It is based off of a photograph by O. Winston Link and is of a Norfolk and Western Mountain, on the Abingdon Branch. The photo can be found on page 105 in "The Last Steam Railroad in America" which is a collection of O. Winston Link's amazing photography. (i couldn't find an image online)

Description from the book: "Train 201 and the mail truck leave Creek junction together, as Engine 429 works up the grade to bridge 52 crossing White Top Laural Creek.

Here is the pic. I decided to post it in both inked and black and white. (the original photo was in black and white)

It would be awesome if that was an actual class M. I've search there are not drawings anywhere in any magazine. If there were I would definately make some.

Yeah i have the book. I love it. I plan on doing more scenes from it whenever someone makes either a Y6 or one of those N&W streamlined steamers.(i forget what they are called.) If anyone is willing to make either of these locos, or know where to find one, payware or not, it would be much appriciated.

And yeah it is made in TRS. (i think thats what you were asking.)

And Speaking of O. Weston Link...

A little more than two years ago, Gary Knapp, a modern-day O. Weston Link of sorts, took a trip to Montana's Marias Pass, far from his usual Northeastern stomping grounds. While there, he managed to capture this stunning shot of a trio of GE's leading a worm train bound for Seattle as it approached Whitefish in the dead of night.

And yes, it is reflected in the water. No, it's not shopped, I swear! :p

Now that looks pretty good :).....Ya had me fooled...I had to look close to see the line ....If ya gave it a lil more ripple effect it would have been perfect :)

The last shot I ever took with the route.

Extremely sadly, due to a Vista screw-up, the newest versions of the route are gone unless I can find it somewhere, along with all of my other routes I've created for Trainz.

And I was about to ask where I could find that route if it was avalible. :(
That is a great loss...

Think of it this way:
The next time you build it over, it will be even better!!:D :udrool:

I'm sorry to hear that Dietrich. I hope you are able to recover it.

Excelent shot and hip hip horray! :D

Now when are you going to finish that beast!?:p :hehe:

Now a serious question:
Where can I find the head loco in that pic?

Cheers,
Adam

Adam,

The first two GP38s in that shot were part of my NYA GP38-2 pack up on USLW, which I think you've downloaded (they were in a video I believe) already. I've done some more work on 268 to make her appear as she does today; mis-matched door, graffiti coverup on the side, LIRR blue showing through, etc. She's still a WIP, but I hope to rerelease the bunch with fixed textures soon. As for the MP15AC in the back, she most likely won't be released unless Frank makes the original available.

As far as the route itself goes, I'm thinking that I'll finish the area I'm working on, and then just race to finish detailing the rest to hopefully get it released right around when school starts, as I won't have much time at all to work on Trainz then. Lovely occasion. :o;)
