Then why even say anything at all? GILA is a desert route and probably has a total of 2 trees, so the comment makes zero sense in context with the screenshot
I wasn't talking about the Desert route my friend. I was talking about all the other routes that I continuously see in this thread using Billboard trees, when there are so many beautiful realistic trees out there.

Yes, Dave there are a lot of beautiful trees out there, but they are all very resource hungry! I understand why some people choose the billboard trees with older computers. Even my computer struggles with performance on some routes with routes with lots of trees. It would be nice if Auran optimized the performance of Trainz to a point where we could fill out mountain based routes with all of the trees we wanted without such a performance hit. Unfortunately, the PF pine trees look terrible.

Hopefully, Auran or someone is able to make some better looking Plant Factory trees. The current selection of PF trees (especially the pine trees) that I downloaded are not very nice looking.
One of the main advantages of the switch to Plant Factory is that the program needed to make trees for it is free, unlike the one for SpeedTrees, which requires the purchase of an incredibly expensive liscense to access it. So the switch means more people will be able to create 3D Trees and Shrubs than before. Although I imagine it will be some time before PF Trees from other creators begin to appear as said creators will first need to learn how to use the PF Toolkit. Additionally, Plant Factory is also open source, which means N3V will have more freedom to tailor it to suit the needs of the game.

It also does not help that the version of the SpeedTree program needed to produce trees in Trainz is no longer available as the version of SpeedTrees it uses is obsolete, which along with the liscense being expensive, is why we haven't seen very many new 3D Trees and Shrubs in recent years.

Although with that being said, I do agree that most of the PF Trees currently available are not the best; but they're a start and I am sure more and better are bound to come, if not from Auran/N3V then from the community once the dust settles.

I am, for one, excited at the prospect of possibly seeing new seasonal trees and shrubs in the game.
