I grew up with the F59PHIS in Washington state on the Cascades and Sounder commuter rail. There'll always be a Surfliner F59PHI that ends up on the Coast Starlight, then the Cascades. Even though Amtrak retired those locomotives and Metra bought them, the Sounder F59PHIS are still running, but I could only see them on a weekday cause there's no weekend service, unless there's a special event

Established post 9-11. Early morning, rarely had passengers. The train in my screenshots is based off of the one in this video.

I just picked up the new SW1, and sure enough, that's the default light color. Looks like that's a new thing on some of JR's newest releases. I may have to dig in a bit and see what they did, and see if it's something I can do to older models.
