Sorry to quote a pic, but are those Jan's payware super-billboards? If so i just might have to break my payware rule...

Andy :)
They are indeed! Best looking trees and veg in ts 12, sad part is If you release a route using the pay ware nobody will want to buy the trees so the route will suck :/

Which is exactly why I have a no-payware policy in my routes.

But when you look at a screenshot like yours with good looking trees all the way to the horizon you gotta think. Old fashioned billboards don't cut it any more, speed trees (even the good ones) have the effect on long shots trashed by the limiter, and then you go and post that! If I have it right those trees run about 4 polys a pop, so no CPU strain and even with a high res image if you have a gig on the vid card the potential is near limitless.....

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

You gotta think......

4 polys?! hmmmmm indeed.. Might have to try them out too. Pofigs trees arnt that demanding as a distance, however close up and trackside i find they slow down my computer quite a lot, and as you said the JVC ones fill up the background really nicely too, so it looks like win win for them.
P.S, i should send you a PM about your route andy :)

I have a good idea on how those were made...

They, unlike most billboard trees, have hard alphas which trainz prefers, add on a massive texture size to make it look good, and you have one of those.

This is just my theory.
