A very much still WIP route.

Before people say things:
  • The "floating" road will get an embankment around it in the near future.
  • There will be a new platform, some parts with snow, some with a dusting, and some with none.
  • Signals need to be adjusted (& replaced)
  • Fences & Walls need work
  • That strange bit of road in pic 2 will become a cul-de-sac (or however you spell it)
  • The doors on the cars will get fixed

West of Denver, would that be payware??

Jamie

EDIT: Mike, great shots, but in the 2nd shot why is the grass waving with the cliff in a circular round thing??

Hey Fred thank you for the comment..I like to take swipes with my paint brush to cliffsides..It helps me get the effect of foggy look etc..

Here is my first serious try at route building in Trainz. This took me about 60 minutes to complete without the scenery (trees of course). Im not sure if anything will come out of it, But it is good practice if I decide to build a route later at some point for Trainz.

Nice hilly terrain. The one thing you can do is get a bunch of textures and mix them together. Also use the [ ] keys while laying down textures to give it a blended look, it doesn't look very nice when the ground textures are uniform in one direction. Certainly not half bad though!

Thanks....Now, I just need to find some very good freeware pine trees for the route. Do you have any suggestions for pine trees?

@BobCass: Yes, nice shot, Bob. It seems to be a bit different to me from other shots that I have seen out of you lately, in how it has the snow with the rock cliff and the steam train and smoke, etc. A little variety helps, so again, nice shot, and keep up the great work. :) ;)

@mikelj001: Awesome shots! :D

@Eaglefan9727: Looks like a nice start to your route. It is amazing that even though it is so simple at this stage, being only a very nice hilly terrain with some simple texturing, that it looks so good, which is because of the very nice hilly terrain. As Nick said, try rotating the textures a little and also mix in some different grass textures to give it some variety. Some textures, like the grass here, do not have the most noticeable repeating pattern in the texture when laid down in a single rotation, but it is more noticeable with other textures such as the rock/gravel texture that you have used for the riverbanks and riverbed, so some textures may need a little more rotation than others. Again, nice start, and have fun working on it! :) Look at existing routes that you have in Trainz and screenshots here on the forums for inspiration right down to the nitty-gritty details! ;)

Kind regards,
Retro00064.

Thanks....Like I said, I am not sure if anything will come out of it as I am sort of more interested in doing a desert route to be honest with you. And I am also waiting to get Trainz 12 before I get serious into building a route that I do (When and if), But I wont be getting Trainz 12 until a couple months or so.

Try doing a bit of browsing through the Download Station and you'll find a lot of different kinds of trees and shrubs to your liking. JVC's are the one I'd recommend for scenery.

Retro00064: Thank you for the nice comment..I thought a little variety would not hurt..I like how that turned out, I closed down the circle paint brush a little and took a swipe at it with rock texture..

A Reading Manifest rolls around Port Clinton Curve on its way to Reading. The train originated in Newburry Junction(Williamsport, PA) and traveled down the Catawissa branch before making its way through the lower portion of Schuylkill County. The end of the bridge is the border between Schuylkill county, and Berks county.

Mcguirel - What route is that? Is it available or a WIP

NickyVeee - I did a search for JVC and nothing came up in the download station. Can you tell me the name of the author, So I can see what he has?

Try searching for "Jankvis" then Eaglefan he is the same bloke who make's the Payware stuff but he has a ton of Freeware also. I just did a quick search on the DLS using his name and came up with a 1000 Item's so that should keep you outa trouble for a bit LOL. And Mcguirel that last pic is outstanding great work.
Cheers Mick.
