TY Andy...

I found some time lately to work on the route since the kids are out for summer vacation....:mop:

A little further down we catch a Cotton Belt SW1500 picking up a few cars from the cattle yard...

Koondawg,

Your shots are great!
They really capture the essence of the Cotton Belt very well.
I also love the way the Frisco Locomotives look.
Great Work, absolutely stunning.

TY all for the compliments...

The reason I'm doing the route is because as a kid my Aunt worked for the Cotton Belt...we used to chase trains from Sherman to Denison in a corvair.
Sometimes we would even be lucky enough (age about 8) to ride the switcher between the yards building a freight bound for Durant...and on occasion get to ride in the caboose if there was one.

On the other end of the route (about 50 or so miles) which goes all the way (past Whitesboro) into Wise county for the coal-lignite, and is a little more baren with hills but still farm-land...

We catch the same Cotton Belt SW1500 hauling a mixed consist towards Denison...

The shop crew converted the Renfe engine to American specs after being purchased by museum member Don Vijaykar.
