I dont know what your using as a paint prog but depending on layers and colors used (and how you apply the layers) youll get a diff color depending on the base color...and depending on what layer you add (for ex multiply, burn, blah blah) you will get a color your not looking for..or looking for...

if this doesn't help pm me...hopefully I can help

I use PSP7, the base colour is a light grey normally but I changed it to white which made the maroon layer more correct in my opinion.

end of the line.

My second RS3 Alco

This time in Burlington Northern livery. I've tried to model it off the one in this link.

Now, Mark Hoffman also did an RS3 in BN livery but his is slightly different with the black extending down further from off the roof than the one I'm doing.

The green I used matches SPORBUST's SD40 but not the RS3 by Mark. My question is, should it match Mark's or would it be prototypical for it to be slightly different in matching SPORBUST's shade of green??

Opinions would be most welcome:)

Just realised that the black needs to come down a bit more around the cab, just like this.

Third time lucky eventually, we get it right. I think this is more like it. :p

PS, update to Rock Island RS3. I've enhanced the panel detailing.

neither color of green looks correct, but having some off shades would not be against prototype. every unit sees different days of weather and use. if it were me i would not match either of them and try to match the photograph you posted.

Ok Justin, I used the eye dropper on that photo and applied the new colour.

Weathering is the difficult thing, I've just added a layer of fog texture over it. I'd like to know a good way of making a decent weathered loco.

About six miles west of Cheyenne at Speer, Wyoming, the UP business train heads south to Denver to pick up passengers and bring them back to Cheyenne for Frontier Days, while a BNSF unit train heads south to Denver on the former Colorado & Southern line.

That's a great shot George, but I am wondering what happened to the mandatory diesel behind the steamer! Maybe Mr Bown derailed it?:hehe:

posty33 - On my computer being built.

Ed - Despite all the good and valid reasons for the diesel in the real world, in the end, they look stupid so I deleted it. My game, my rules.
