At 49th Street crossing, the Pennsylvania Railroad's Panhandle jackknifed the B&OCT, all while ducking under the GTW's
curvy bridge connection to their east/west section of mainline between 47th Street Yard on the C&WI corridor and Elsdon
Yard, a couple of miles to the west, near Kedzie, where the GTW mainline hooked to the south towards Blue Island.
New York Central's terminal subsidiary, the Chicago River & Illinois, combined with the Chicago Junction Railroad, make for
Norfolk Southern's modern-day trackage along this corridor. These two roads and the GTW used the connection, out of frame.
