Its late fall, 1947, as the early morning quiet is shattered by the staccato exhaust of a Southern Railway way freight barreling upgrade at a relaxed pace through the sleepy town of Peabody, Kentucky. Recently out of the shop after a light overhaul, the 4553 is making good time to pick up several carloads of coal, and deliver a CN wood caboose to a preservation society near Chattanooga. We catch up to the 4553 about 15 minutes later at a well-known railfan spot that is strangely empty this morning, missing its usual crew of locals cooking breakfast over a campfire.
the living legend and Never has been retired public relations ambassador of the Union Pacific Railroad, the 844 herself is seen here taking on more water after previously filling her big tender with oil, note the the lack of the mars light, the reason being is because the bolts that held it in place came loose.
My goodness Coleton, good to see you still around and producing amazing work! This latest set of shots is mindblowing my friend!
From me, finally, after several weeks, overhaulage and dual tracking of the main for capacity purposes is finished, but still plenty of re-detailing to do in several spots! Work continues, but had to share some pics so people don't feel left out of the loop!
Thanks Guys, I really appreciate the support! ~Feel like I really need to say that more often~
@Davesnow- I'm hoping to release it within a couple months, either end of this year or early 2018, if I'm lucky, or just plain get bored or burned out with it. Though I feel like theres still tons upon tons of detailing left to do to make things interesting every moment that your running a train. Heck I just added a farm yesterday next to the Meyer's Creek trestle, in a scene that was "complete" almost a year and a half ago and that has problably been around since the second rebirth of the route.
