USA Pics

HS&A SD45s #2613 and #2610 sit on the shop tracks at Rockford yard across the river from Rockford, PA. #2613 still sports a solid red nose as her scare stripes and yellow banding have yet to be replaced after her short hood and cab was repaired from a grade crossing incident this summer.

Here is a closeup shot of the repaired nose.

And here we see the HS&A deadline with an ex NYSW RS1 and C&P's old RS27 #2404 sitting on the old turntable lead. #2404 was purchased along with slug 70T from the Cumberland and Potomic earlier this fall. The slug is now renumbered 26b and is paired up with RS7 #26 and spends its days running between Swedeland Quarry, the Swedeland Cement Company plant with limestone, and the loaded cement hoppers back to the Swedeland Yard. RS27 #2404 was purchased with the intent of hiring the BASR shops to perform another rebuilding job similar to the RS7s already on the roster, though that has yet to materialize due to financial matters. For now #2404 will sit with the RS1, which is a leftover from the RS7 rebuilding program with its future unknown.

The forecasters are calling for snow as the crew of 1282 trundle past the mostly empty (this time of evening) Batavia Yard, behind Batavia Shopping Center.

Semi-apologies for quoting a pic, but I wanted to say I really like how you have put the tufts grass at the edges of that dirt road. Makes it look like it is kind of dug into the ground rather than a spline sitting "on" the ground.

I must say the USA pics thread really highlights some great desert route creators - Kimo, Socal, Nikitka, GNdome to name some - each has their own style, but perhaps learning little tricks from each other.
