USA 03 & 03L Signals

I was wondering if these could be modified to act as repeaters?

I've noticed a Repeater under NSW that seems to work OK (I haven't done exhaustive testing), but it does not work with the USA signals I'm using.

Rather than spend a lot of time experimenting I thought I'd ask first to see if it could be done as someone elase may have already done it.

Hello,

This is probably not the answer you are looking for but it would appear that a repeater signal is accomplished through scripting. I was only able to find two examples of repeaters and both did indeed require a script. I am not a programmer and so can not offer any direct assistance. It is quite clear from the config.txt files that you will need both the name of the repeater signal and that of the one you are repeating.

Perhaps if you re-post this in the scripting section someone there may be able to point you in the correct direction.

Sorry I can not be of more help.

Actually this was quite helpful. At least now I have a place to start and didn't waste alot of time experimenting with config files. Thanks.

Hi rroby

You sure can modify them as repeaters in 09 I've done it just recently, it dosn't need a script just a couple of small mods to the config file and you are away. Check the TrainzDev site under signals and also the wiki and it will explain how. If you are using 06 or TC you will need to script it though.

Wow. It was as easy as adding repeater 1 to the config file. I'm using 09. I'm all set. Thanks a ton!

Hi rroby

Hey good one, done forget you have to chage one of the aspects as other wise AI's will still stop at the signal, can't remeber which one it was.

Cheers

Good point. From the TranzDev Wiki
"A repeater should not show state '0' - use state '1' for this instead, otherwise the Autopilot will stop at the repeater, and not at the signal it is repeating."

So for the 03 the signal states would be:
1 - Stop then Proceed (original config file had 0 - Stop)
3 - Caution and Right Diverge
4 - Caution
6 - Proceed and Right Diverge
7 - Advanced Caution
8 - Proceed
9 - Slow (not sure this is needed, but was in the original config file)

Hi rroby

The signal you want as a repeater has to have the same signal aspects as the signal you are repeating from. After doing that, if there is a 0 just change it to a 1 and you are a away.
