Uploading own built content to DLS.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Hi all. I’m creating a ten platform station, which I would like to upload to the DLS.

It uses the built in content and maybe some shelters if I can get permission off the creator.

What I would like to know is, how do I get permission from N3V games to upload the station?

Also, when I add a thumbnail image to the station, how do I remove the baseboards? (if I get the permission to re-distribute the station that is).

I'm not sure what you mean by it 'uses' built-in content. If you're simply using attachment points to attach the built-in content to your platform, then you don't need permission since all that you'll actually be uploading is an asset with attachment points. You wouldn't actually be uploading the built-in content. There's no need to upload content that's already built-in or already on the DLS.

I also hope to use Ray Whiley's shelters if he lets me.

Are you doing this merging together in Surveyor, or outside Trainz?

Hi Shane, it's all done within Trainz Surveyor.

If that's the case, save it as a route - this will then include the other assets as dependencies. When you come to upload it, only upload the dependencies you specifically created.

So to make sure I've got this right, I wont be able to upload the station if I use Ray's shelters?

And what about getting permission from N3V? Do I need it if it just uses the built in content?

Hi Craig
It is not necessary to gain permission for content that you use in a route, or a session, as Trainz only references the 'kuid' number (essentially the id number of the content) when you create the route. The only time you will need permission is if you wish to redistribute the content (e.g. if you modify it, such as repainting/reskinning it). However, uploading the route will not redistribute the content.

Craig - just to confirm the above, you may certainly use my shelters and any other assets I have created in your route - tht is why I uploaded them to the Download Station. You may also, if you wish, modify them and publish the result as your own creation, provided you credit me as the author in your description. My licence specifically gives this permission. I'm thinkiing, for instance, of if you wanted to change the colour of the panels to blue, for some reason.

Craig, Your station looks like something I could use. How soon will you be finishing and uploading to DS? Rebecca

If anyone is interested, the station platforms will be long enough to park a BR Intercity 125 consist. (that's a Class 43 loco with Mark 3 coaches) with about 10 meters between the train and the buffers.

Hi Rebecca, shouldn't be too long, just want to add some scenery items such as lighting, canopies etc.
