Upload Route

Use Content Manager.

Right mouse click on the route and select Upload to DLS.

CM will compact the route to a .cdp file and upload it. The time taken for this will depend on the file size and the speed of your connection.

Once it has been uploaded, you will get an email (not immediately but eventually) telling you that the route has been accepted and you must then personally approve it for placing on the DLS. This additional step allows you to change your mind and either cancel the upload or make changes to the route and then upload it again, replacing the previous upload. You will have about 30 days to approve your upload before it will be deleted.

How do you approve your upload for the DLS? At the top of this forum page (and every forum page) is a link to MyTrainz. This will take you the the N3V Games Shop. You will need to log in (use your Trainz Forum username and password). On the left of the page will be a long column of text links one of which will be My Content. This will take you to the upload, approval and list page for all of your content.

The third button on that page will be Preview Area where you will find your uploaded content waiting to be approved. Your uploaded content will be found in the Individual Asset list. Click an items name to show its details and thumbnail. Under the thumbnail will be an Approve and a Decline button. Click Decline and the asset will be deleted with 24 hours. Click Approve and it will (99% of the time) appear on the DLS within the next 24 hours. You will receive a confirming email.

The above description assumes that your uploaded content does not have any errors. The initial email you will receive will list any errors.

For routes, the most common error will probably be missing assets - items that you have included but are not on the DLS or built into Trainz and probably from 3rd party sites or are sitting on your hard drive but you have not yet uploaded them (been there, done that). Missing assets will probably not stop a route or session from being accepted but will cause some annoyance for those (like myself) who will have to spend time trying to find them.

For other types of assets, such as scenery items, errors will most probably lead to the asset being rejected for upload.

A common problem with this process is uploaders not receiving the emails. Usually because the email they registered with their Trainz account is no longer valid (have you changed your email address since registering?) or their email program has classified the emails as "junk" (check your junk folder).
