Upgrading my computer

I just finished upgrading my computer and got a about a 30% increase in FPS.

What I did NOT upgrade: Monitor(24” 1920x1200), Case, Power Supply(850w), Nvida GTX460, Haed drives.

What I upgraded and why:

Motherboard: my old one would not support an SSD and was getting outdated so my Asus P5N-D is out and a new Asus Maximus V Gene is in, this is the best MB packaging I have seen.

CPU: old one Intel Core 2 Duo, E8500, 3.16GHz new one Intel Core i5, i5-3570K, 3.40GHz. This was for more speed and going from a 755 to a 1155 socket.

CPU Cooler: I had the stock cooler on the old one, new one has a Noctua NH-U9B SE2. I will be doing some over clocking.

Ram: old 4GB Adata DDR2 800 one stick died on me and had to be replased, new 8GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1866. I have no need of more than 8GB.

DVD burner: old one was IDA, new one SATA, most new MB's do not have IDA.

Trainz test: TS12 S. China coal run CAB control, old 22FPS, new 32FPS, got the same on the N&W.

Cost was around $530US.

I went for quality not cost, it works out better in the long run.

Hey Whitepass
Excellent!

I bought a new pc a few months back with 6gig memory, etc ... it seems, for me, trainz runs its' best when one has lots of ram --- One of my friend from the trainz world has 8gig, and he just installed windows 8, and he says that trainz runs very very fast, not just with the 8gig memory but because window 8 also made trainz run very smooth, etc
