Upgrade to 64 bit?

Hi;
I am going to upgrade my system to 64-bit soon, and wondering whether I need to do anything different when I re-install TS12 and TS10.
Normally, I would go through the complete install process, then replace everything in the \TS12 or \TS10 folder with my backup.
This has always worked on the 32 bit system, but I have never done anything with a 64 bit system.

The OS will be Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thanks

Nope everything runs exactly the same. So nothing will work differently or look different. Only thing that is different is the amount of RAM that the version can use and access(the main difference) as well as minor differences which escape my mind at the moment. But before doing so just make 100% sure that your hardware supports 64bit. Most modern hardware does, but there are always the few odd balls.

Windows Home premium is usually cheaper and most programs and end users can't tell the difference.

There are some differences but more to do with corporate network environments than anything else.

Thanks guys;
I haven't purchased any hardware yet, but I know that it will be multi-core 64 bits.
I want to go with my old NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB, as it appears to be running fine. I also have at least one 500G SATA HDD with 32MB cache that should work OK.
I am thinking about RAID 0+1 (is that what it would be if I use 4 drives?), but budget is too limited to allow for it right off.

I think 6-8GB RAM will work for me.

Reason for Win 7 Ultimate is that I've already got the 32 bit version and can get the 64bit replacement free.

Sounds daft but what is your system at the moment? Most CPUs that are less than 6 years old do 64 bit.

Trainz isn't especially disk drive performance bound so a RAID set up probably won't gain you much. SSD on the other hand will bring things into play more quickly but typically you want a 100 or 200 gigs of SSD for Trainz.

Trainz is really 32 bit so it can use a max of 4 gigs or slightly less than this under 64 bit Windows. Add in .5 gigs for the operating system gives you 4.5 gigs so 6 gigs should work fine.

Three days ago I bought a new system too.
I've just copied the TS2010 Installation,- (installed in WinXP) - to the new SSD an it runs fine and very fast (without a new installation).
