I am posting this thread as a general query into performance issues when upgrading and installing outdated assets into TS12.
Right now TS12 is behaving well, and has been since installation several months ago.
I do not wish to upset the various deities, residing within my computer, by installing content alien to their pallet.
Here, I am referencing Tom Landers fine set of road and street assets in particular, but the query is general, as noted above.
I, like many route builders, am facing the quandary of deciding which set of roads, offered in many versions , by a variety of creators, to apply to my route. Building in TS12, as fine as the program is, has its drawbacks. Limited assets is the major one. There are some fine road systems offered, but I find them all lacking ability, in one way or another, to provide a complete, complimentary system, particularly in providing a variety of angled intersections, with and without sidewalks. Unfortunately I am modeling Gloucester, Massachusetts, not Los Angeles, and 90 deg. intersections just don't cut it! I have searched the DLS, and found that Tom Landers road set to be the most complete. Unfortunately, it's built only to Trainz v.2.0! I started to run some of the assets through the CCP, being able to upgrade toTrainz v.2.9, with a few minor additions to text. I do get a warning for 'no thumbnail', but feel that can be safely ignored.
If I apply this excellent set of roadways to my route, updated to v.2.9, am I to expect some decrease in performance?
