Updating content and performance in TS12

I am posting this thread as a general query into performance issues when upgrading and installing outdated assets into TS12.
Right now TS12 is behaving well, and has been since installation several months ago.
I do not wish to upset the various deities, residing within my computer, by installing content alien to their pallet.
Here, I am referencing Tom Landers fine set of road and street assets in particular, but the query is general, as noted above.
I, like many route builders, am facing the quandary of deciding which set of roads, offered in many versions , by a variety of creators, to apply to my route. Building in TS12, as fine as the program is, has its drawbacks. Limited assets is the major one. There are some fine road systems offered, but I find them all lacking ability, in one way or another, to provide a complete, complimentary system, particularly in providing a variety of angled intersections, with and without sidewalks. Unfortunately I am modeling Gloucester, Massachusetts, not Los Angeles, and 90 deg. intersections just don't cut it! I have searched the DLS, and found that Tom Landers road set to be the most complete. Unfortunately, it's built only to Trainz v.2.0! I started to run some of the assets through the CCP, being able to upgrade toTrainz v.2.9, with a few minor additions to text. I do get a warning for 'no thumbnail', but feel that can be safely ignored.
If I apply this excellent set of roadways to my route, updated to v.2.9, am I to expect some decrease in performance?

Hi steamboateng.

With warnings I don't think there is any hit on performance. Lots of assets will give a warning about being before build 2.7, these (except for rollingstock and locomotives) can usually be updated to 2.7 but may throw up errors if updated to 3.3 or more.
For the warning about thumbnails, this can be ignored or you can paste the folowing section into the config file.

thumbnails
{
0
{
width 240
height 180
image "screenshot.jpg"
}
}

It does not matter if there is no actual screenshot so long as the thumbnail section is there.

I found a lot of older road systems (fall into the spline headaches for performance) in 2010...
I ve been using YARNISH road systems now and scanned the splines for a big performance boost with these.,
sad thing is the biggest headache with older road systems is a base "invisible road or track" spline that most use and really bog down for performance....

Genlemen, your replies are excellent.
I will apply the 'thumbnail' script as required.
I'm at standstil now, over the issue of road splines!
I suppose I'm gonna have to settle with the 'Yarnish' roads, but i will dive into the subject. Perhaps a modification to Tom landers splines?
