updates and patches

I received Trainz 2010 for Xmas so I am new to this sim. First thing I saw when loading it was it says my version is out of date and directs me to get patched. I see there are quite a few patches and updates. Do I need them all or are they cumulative to where I only need the newest one?

Thanks
Terry

Welcome to TRANZ. It depends on the build number that you currently have. Find out what it is and go from there.

Immediately after installing the patch the program now wants SP3 installed. The provided link goes to ts2009 patches. Is there an SP3? Is it necessary? Seems like the latest patch should have covered everything.

Terry,

You can download the patches manually, and this patch is highly recommended because it fixes a lot of issues that SP2 did not fix and the new ones introduced by this version. In addition there's a mini-patch for SP3 that fixed additional problems, bringing the current version up to 44088.

See this post here:

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=62766

It lists all of the patches needed by the different revision levels of the program. This can be found by looking at the Launcher screen in the lower right corner of the screen.

FYI and WARNING!! Do not stop the patching process once it has started. Doing so will require a fresh installation of Trainz. I recommend running the patch overnight so your computer can be left alone while the patcher does its thing.

Once the patch is completed, let it do a database repair. This process can take a very long time as well.

Originaly it was asking to be patched, I did that to 44088. Now it is asking for SP3 (service pack three). I can't find anything listed as tr2010 SP3. I'm wondering if the latest patch and SP3 are one and the same thing???
